What Are You Thankful For This Thanksgiving?

People around the world are going through incredibly difficult times.  Yet is there something--anything that they can be thankful for?  An article I just read tonight (well this morning since it is already past midnight) reminds us of 15 blessings that we should not take for granted.  One of the points made in the article speaks of freedom of religion.

"The majority of the world's population—75 percent—live in areas with severe religious restrictions. And Christians in more than 60 countries face persecution simply because of their belief in Jesus Christ. About 1.6 billion people in the world live in repressive societies where they have no say in how they are governed."

We are living in the end of the year 2014, and with all the progress that has taken place in the world today, you would think that there would be no more countries where people were treated so poorly and human rights so disrespected.  Yet here in America we see a large minority seeking to increase the repressiveness of our own government.  These people don't seem to understand that governments that have too much control over the people, the institutions, and the businesses in a country have the power to reduce the population to slaves.

There are race riots going on in a city in Missouri called Ferguson right now.  One hundred and sixty years ago our country was in a civil war over race and slavery.  We don't want to see our country return to slavery, however, too many people in this country are not educated enough to know that they are pushing the limits of our government and that if they are allowed to keep this up, all of us could end up slaves to our government.  And if that happens, it won't matter what race any of us is.  We will all be at the mercy of a government with too much power.

The rights we have in America are unique in the world.  Other countries have tried to copy our government and form democratic republics like ours.  Some have succeeded.  But still, the statistics around the world are bleak when it comes to the kind of human rights we have right here in America.  We need to wake up and realize that at any time our government could turn against us and our rights could be taken away overnight.  All it would take would be a few more uprisings such as what is happening in Ferguson for the government leaders to declare martial law.  If that happens, it could lead to another civil war and if that happens, it would be more bloody than the last one.  The American Civil War was between the Northern States and the Southern States.  But this time it would truly be neighbor against neighbor, city against city, state against state.  Because our values and beliefs spread all across this mighty land, values and beliefs that, up until now, we have been able to express freely without fear of reproach, each of us may have values and beliefs that are the opposite of those of our friends, neighbors, and relatives.  We wouldn't know when we walked into work the day after war broke out, if we even had a job left.  We wouldn't know who we could trust and who we should think of as our enemies.  We do not want or need another Civil War in America.  But people are angry and if things don't change, who knows what will happen next?  Our rights are very precious things that none of us should take for granted.  If we do not honor and protect them, we could lose them overnight.

Right now there are terrorist organizations in the world threatening to take over America in the name of Islam and force Sharia Law upon all of us.  For many decades there have been communist countries promising that someday America would also be a communist country.  Unfortunately for all of us, the American school system has not been educating children about the threats of communism and what communism is all about.  While this was something my generation grew up knowing much about, the youth and young adult populations in this country no very little about it.  In fact, they know very little about their own country, including why and how it was founded, and what the Constitution and Bill of Rights says.  As a result, they have very little respect for documents that they believe are nothing more than old pieces of paper that should be done away with.

So, while you are enjoying your Thanksgiving celebrations this weekend, I hope that you will also consider being thankful for all of the rights you have in this country.  Don't take your rights for granted.  I also hope that you will read the full article mentioned above because the other 14 items on the list are things not to be taken for granted as well.

Happy Thanksgiving!

We The People...

Tonight as I sit here at my keyboard, my heart is heavy. You see, even though I have been studying the Bible, and in particular, the last days prophesies, since I was very young, in these past few years I have been too distracted to really follow anything.  I've been ill.  Now that I am doing better, and feeling somewhat stronger, I've been watching again.  The past few weeks or so I have been particularly paying attention to what is happening in the world.  I'm pretty simple.  I like things quiet and peaceful.  Excitement is okay for a moment but then it's time for quiet again.  However I don't think quiet is going to be part of life so much anymore.

For sure I have known that I am living in what is called the Last Days, or the End of the Age.  Jesus is coming soon to gather His Bride to His side and take us home.  But the world is going to be dealing with troubles like they have never known before.  It's called The Great Tribulation.  America is not mentioned in the Bible.  At least she isn't mentioned by name.  But then neither are many other places such as Canada, Mexico, South and Central America, Australia, and most of Africa.  But the question keeps coming back to why isn't America mentioned?  Is it pride because we WANT to be mentioned?  Do we want to be part of all the pain and suffering as God brings final judgement upon the earth for the sins committed against Him all these many years?  Certainly we don't want to be part of the armies marching against God's people Israel.  But we are not mentioned as being there to help Israel either.  But what we really don't want to happen is for America to be just gone. Annihilated. Destroyed.  We also don't want to become part of the revived Roman Empire which is now called the European Union.

Oh I am so overwhelmed by all the reports on the news now.  And not only on the news, but online, all over the internet.  You can go on YouTube and find so many videos speaking about the end times and about various conspiracy theories being talked about around the world right now.  These conspiracy theories, things that several years ago just seemed to be too far out there to have any weight to them, are suddenly appearing to be quite plausible and quite frightening.

Last week I read a fascinating book and I recommend this book to everyone to read no matter what your belief is in God.  This book is called The Harbinger, by Rabbi Jonathon Cahn The book is written as a fictional story but the information given in this story is truth--truth about the future course of the United States of America.  Then when you have read the book, I recommend that you share it with someone else who is open to reading it.

The United States of America is running head on into judgement by God.  But God has given us warnings. Many warnings.  Many chances to stop and to turn back.  Now it is up to us to heed those warnings and to bring God's blessings back on our country instead of His judgements.  But how are we supposed to do this?  How do we avoid judgement?  We have so many things that we have chosen to do wrong in this country.  Again, all we have to do is look at what is on television every day and every night.  All we have to do is watch the news or read the news online.  The internet is filled with the activities of our land that are causing a horrible stench to rise into the nostrils of our God.  As Christians we have long been saying that if God didn't judge us soon, He would have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah for destroying them. But God has been warning us.  He has been sending messages to us that for many of us have been loud and clear.  The attacks on 9/11 on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.  Hurricane Katrina.  Hurricane Ike.  Floods, earthquakes, massive tornadoes, drought, mass shootings of children in schools and movie theaters.  So much more is happening every day and not just in the United States, but all over the world.

The Old Testament is filled with the prophesies that have been fulfilled and those that are still to come.  Many are being fulfilled as I write this. Again, you don't have to look far to find out more about these prophesies and how they are being fulfilled.  Just look on YouTube to find a multitude of videos by caring pastors reaching out to the world hoping to reach as many as possible so that they will accept the salvation so freely given by God when He offered His only Son to be crucified in our place, raised Him from the grave and took Him alive to Heaven where He even now sits praying for us next to God the Father.  All we have to do is accept the gift.  We don't have to be cleaned up and perfect to just reach out and say Yes to Jesus.  He will take care of all that for us.  All we need to do is just accept this wonderful gift of God and let Him clean us up inside and outside and make us new creatures.  The old will pass away.

But what about our country?  What do we do now if God is warning us of coming judgement?  God answers that question in the Bible in 2Chronicles 7:14 "If my people which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."  We the people...God's people here in this country and everywhere in the world too...the people who call themselves His people just follow those simple instructionsGod has given us His warnings.  Several of them.  It's time for us to stop ignoring Him and turn back our hearts toward God.

We also need to take another step.  This one isn't in the Bible, but it's important in a democratic society where we vote for our political leaders.  Politics has become corrupted.  It's become all about power rather than about service.  Our leaders are supposed to be our trusted servants.  I would guess that most of us are much like myself.  We may vote, but we don't get too much involved beyond that.  But it's time we did get involved.  We have elected representatives in our nation for each state.  We also have representatives in each state.  We have local governments.  All these public servants are supposed to be following the will of the people, however if the people do not speak up, they will tend to do what they want to do on their own.  Or if only the people who want ungodly things done are the ones speaking up, then our leaders think that is what we want as a whole.  Right now our country is in a real mess with so much division that it's possible we could be heading toward another Civil War.  We are also now dealing with government leaders in control right now who do not want to take the road of repentance.  They want to continue on their power trips and to them, we are nothing more than collateral damage if we get in their way.  Unfortunately, this is history repeating itself in many ways.  This is a country on the verge of political takeover to the point of our leaders ordering martial law especially if they manage to take away our 2nd Amendment rights and get all our guns from us.  Once we are a people unable to defend ourselves, and who would believe we would need to defend ourselves from our own government, it will be too late to stop them.  But if you don't think this could happen in America, it's time to wake yourselves up and take a look outside your little box you have been living in and see what is really happening.  As distasteful as some of the "conspiracy theories" can sound, it's time to take another look at them and at the possibility that they are no longer just theories.

Years ago I was a simple conspiracy theorist.  I believed there may have been things we were not told about the Kennedy assassination. And I believed then and still do in UFO's.  But I am telling you that the things you will see if you start watching and looking and reading, and searching will shock you.  You will say to yourself that our leaders would never do such things.  But unfortunately they are doing them.  This is no longer the America we grew up in.  It's like that feeling of going to bed with your spouse and realizing you don't even know them anymore, they are just a stranger.  But in this case, it's on a much larger scale, and it's not your spouse who you will look at again soon and know that those feelings were just fleeting.  What is happening with this government today is not what we want to happen.  They have lied to us across the board.  They are playing for power and for money and they really do not care who gets in their way or what happens to them who get in their way.  They will clean up their messes with more lies and if we don't keep at them to make them tell us the truth, they will get away with the lies.

We the people have a few things we need to take care of and quickly.  First of all, we must...WE MUST follow what the Bible says we have to do and repent and turn back to God.  Then we need to contact our representatives from our local governments all the way up through the states and to Washington, D.C.  We have to make it known that we are not going to take it anymore.

Below is the contact information for our Federal leaders.  Follow the information on the links and go from there.  Write letters, make phone calls, email them.  But whichever method you use, speak up and let them know what you want.  Remind them who they are to be serving.

With this information you are now equipped to be able to contact your leaders to let them know what you want them to do, which way you want them to vote on issues, etc.  Gone are the days of sitting back and letting them do what they want.  We have already given them too much rein and now they are running away with our country and the world.  And for Christians who have been taught that we are not to get involved in politics, nothing could be further from the truth.  It is our duty to keep our leaders accountable so that they keep our country on the right path, the path our country was created to follow.  If we don't, we may not have any freedoms soon.  God does not want us to be doormats that allow our leaders to walk all over us.  We are to have a voice and use it.  Now is the time.

Remember, our constitution starts out "We the People..." not "We Your Leaders..."  We were created to be a government "Of the people, by the people, and for the people."  Our government due to our neglect has become "of the leaders, by the leaders, and for the leaders."  It's time for change.  It's time to take back America for God.
