Well, no matter. There is another new blog in the making. This one is quite different from the others as you will see. Go take a peek and let me know what you think. http://creativelycapirani.blogspot.com is the link. This one is something I have been wanting to try for a long time. Although I hadn't thought of doing it in a blog until recently. It's an experiment. I expect feedback, so don't be afraid to give it. I could do this privately on my computer and hide it all on a cd. So give me your opinions. And if you want to have a challenge, follow my lead and use the writing prompt I am using to be creative on your own end. Maybe even create your own blog to do your creative writing.

Another Squidoo Lens Has Arrived!
Well, actually two new Squidoo lenses have been posted on http://www.squidoo.com/ . I made the first of the two the other day, and today I just finished the second one. Making the lenses is really easy. Just pick a topic...any topic that interests you. Go to the Squidoo website and click on create a lens and go for it. The templates are already there for you to do your thing. You can put your own bit of text in the text box. You can add as many text boxes as you want to. You can put pictures on. You can then add more modules to sell stuff on your lens. They have Amazon, Ebay, Netflix and more. You can put a poll or more than one on your lens. Get your readers voting. Make sure to add your guestbook at the bottom so when your readers have visited all those things you want to sell, they can sign in. They will be looking for the guestbook. Keep it close to the bottom. That was a tip I read last night on one of the message boards. But I had already done that. Just seemed like the right place for a guestbook.
So what's so great about Squidoo? Well...these guys who created this site are smart. They realize that without people like you and me making these lenses, they have no website...and they make no money. So they have made it a kind of partnership between themselves and everyone who has lenses. Whenever someone clicks on a link to something on your lens and buys the product, Squidoo gets a cut. Since the purchase came from a link on your lens, you get a whopping 50% of that cut. Not some tiny percentage...50%. The more lenses you make, the more opportunities you have to be selling stuff. You can choose to have whatever earnings you make sent to you or to your favorite charity or charities, or both.
So, okay, making the lenses is the easy part. How do you get people to visit your lens so that they will buy stuff? That is the harder part. You have to get the word out that you have made the lens. Tell your friends and family. Join groups on Squidoo and visit other lenses. Sign the guestbooks of those you visited...they will most likely visit your lens in return. And they will want to find your guestbook too. If they are interested in your topic, they will be interested in your products and might, just might buy something. Yeh...it takes a lot of time to build up an audience. If you are a blogger, you already know that. And you already know it is lots of fun.

Just don't get so caught up in the money making and the pressure of the job...yes it is a job for many people...that you let it take away your health. Once it gets to be more pressure than it is fun...you have lost something. I mean...didn't you go into this to find work you could do that you enjoy and that could give you the opportunity to work from home so you can spend more time with your family? You have defeated your purpose once you step over the line of making the work the number one priority. Take care of yourself.

New Blog Already!!!
Well, this gal just can't stop typing since I started blogging here last week. With all I have been learning about this, I decided to work on my first topical blog. Check it out. It's for Activity Directors in the medical field. Not much there right now, but keep coming back. I am already thinking about what my next post is going to be about. If you know any Activity Directors, send them this way. This new blog is meant to be even more interactive than maybe this one is. Learning How To Blog
Blogging should not be too difficult for me. I love to write. I have kept a journal ever since I was 17 years old, and diaries before that. When I write letters, be they snail mail or email, they can look like booklets because I write so much. It is hard to keep me quiet when it comes right down to it. I like to talk, sometimes, when I am with the right people--people I feel comfortable around. So, taking the next step to blogging should be a piece of cake. At least I hope so. Thankfully I enjoy internet research so researching about blogging is keeping me busy now. There haven't been many opportunities in my life for me to find an outlet for my creativity...especially in the job world. The best career I had was when I was an Activity Director in nursing homes. There I was able to be creative in all types of ways, from playing games, to fund raising, to crafts, and to writing and editing the facility newsletters. In fact, I have already been thinking about how I could start yet another blog focusing on topics relevant to Activity Directors.
But now I am no longer able to work as an Activity Director due to my health. So I work from home and I love that I can do that. If you can imagine waking up in the morning and not having to put on your business casuals, get outside, start the car, scrape the ice off the windshield, maybe dig your car out of the fresh snow that fell overnight, all to get to work...working from home is fabulous. PJ's, blue fuzzy slippers, cozy afghan make up my daily work attire. I commute all the way from my bedroom to my living room and I have arrived at work. Yes it is a bit on the cold side first thing in the morning, but once the furnace gets a jolt from the thermostat I have just turned up, it starts warming up. The only thing is, after almost 6 months of this job, the constant noise pounding in my ears for 5 hours a day is driving me crazy.
Then I found this cool website, thanks to the suggestions of a friend, about working from home. Guess what?? This is not your everyday work from home website!! This is a message board. It may be more, but so far I have been glued to the message boards reading messages from people like you and me who are working from home in all kinds of ways. Believe it or not--blogging has become a career!!! Who would have thunk it??? What an idea for someone who tends to write too much!! And in the process, maybe it will unlock my creative juices that used to flow freely to encourage me to write for children. In the meantime, I just want to try it out and see if I can't have a little bit of fun. Want to know the website that has inspired me so? It is http://www.wahm.com/ which I think stands for Work At Home Mom. But I have read messages from the work at home dad's too. And I am sure I am not the only work at home grandma on that site.
Now I am reading and studying and learning all the ins and outs of blogging and of how to make an income with blogging. Hey!! While you are all reading this, and I hope someone out there is reading this...look at my profile...and when you see the random question this program puts to me, after you read my answer, why not put your own answer to the question in the comment section here? So far some of these questions have done a little to spark my creativity. I would love to read your responses. That frog question really made me think. Ribbit.
